It gives you a chance to salvage more crafting materials from things. You can first buy them in Yak's Bend, I believe, for 400g.

However, twice now I have id-ed items w/ runes. Then when I applied the expert salvage (and yes I am sure it was the expert) the rune did not remain. Seems the kit has a % at which it will get the runes out.

Same thing happens to me all the time. So far I have not gotten to keep a Sup. Vigor Rune, Wilderness Survival Rune, and Marksmanship Rune. The Sup. Vigor hurt the most, those things sell for ridiculous amounts. But I do have it for my PvP characters so all is not lost.

the name of it will be blue and say something like "dwarven armor of minor virgo", the item said salvage item. use expert kit to salvage and you will have some change of getting a ruin.

anyway since we on the subject of expert salvage kit i want to ask that when salvage blue items, do we get greater chance when salvage them unidentified?
